What is an ISA?

'Individual Savings Accounts' (ISAs) are very popular, since they enable you to invest and save your money tax-efficiently.

Tax advantages

In contrast to other investment and savings accounts, ISAs have the following benefits:

  • No further income tax to pay
  • No Capital Gains Tax
  • No need to inform HMRC

Types of ISA

The Share Centre offers the following types of ISA:

Stocks & Shares ISA
Make your money work harder than cash savings by investing in the stock market.

Lifetime ISA
Invest for your first home or retirement and get a 25% annual bonus from the government.

Stocks & Shares Junior ISA
Put some money aside for your child's future by investing in the stock market.

We do not offer Cash ISAs and Innovative Finance ISAs. You can only pay into one of each type of ISA every tax year.

Who can open an ISA?

You must be a UK resident, aged 18 or over to open an ISA (18-39 for a Lifetime ISA, under 18 for a Junior ISA).

Flexible withdrawals

With our flexible ISAs, you can replace withdrawn money in the same tax year (excl. Lifetime ISAs).

ISA allowance

The government set a limit on how much you can pay into ISAs each tax year, called your ISA allowance.
